U11 Girls Regional Team 2017.

The Girls

The Girls were eagerly excited about the trip to Sheffield after their limited training sessions ahead of the National Tournament.

The West Midlands Girls were placed with East Midlands and the South. They had a very slow start to the day with a disapointing first game result. Losing 8 to 56. Still very possitive about the rest of the day, the Girls came back to finish their second game with over double their first games' result. (17 - 42).

The Girls were then placed with East Midlands and the North East for their afternoon games.

With their confidence progressing throughout the day, the Girls continually improved and shone to the crowds delight. Finishing their third game against East Mids 30 to 41. Another loss, however, the team were still finding their feet.

The final game of the day came as the Girls faced off the North East. With a basket for basket, from taking to losing the lead to taking it again, the game was as nailbiting as it gets. The Girls proved they had it all along, as they warmed up to this game. Taking the win in the final quarter, beating the North East 27 - 20.

The coaches and players were celebrating after a days hard work was done!

The Boys

Today Coach Sheridan made the trip to All Saints Sports Centre, Sheffield with the West Midlands Under 11 boys basketball team to compete in the National Minis Basketball Tournament.

The West Midlands were placed in pool 1 along with the South East and the North East. The boys made a great start to the day with a 17 point victory (49-32) over the South East. In the second and final pool game the West Midlands took on the North East with the winner having the opportunity to play for 1st, 2nd or 3rd place in the afternoon. Despite their best efforts the boys fell just short losing by 2 points (36-38).

Finishing second in their pool, the boys were placed in the runners up pool for the afternoon along with London and the South. Up first the boys took on a very physical London team. Despite leading throughout the game a big 4th quarter push from London was too much for the boys to overcome resulting in a 4 point loss (33-37). Determined to finish the day with a win the boys turned their attention to the South. Despite a slow start to the game the boys stepped up their defensive intensity, resulting in easy scores and were able to take an 11 point win (36-47), finishing the day on a high!

All of the players were a credit to their coaches and clubs as well as our region.

Coach Sheridan would like to thank all the staff from the YBL and Ball 4 All (FacebookTwitterInstagram) for their help and support during the preparation and todays tournament.
